Our Practice
Each business has its own risks, its own vocabulary, and its own
unwritten terms. To adequately represent a client, a lawyer must
be familiar with that client's industry. He or she must also be
interested in understanding new developments within an industry.
To that end, MHN has consistently sought lawyers with inquisitive
minds and specialized knowledge in the areas of:
• Products liability including automotive, electrical, tire
and tread separation, farm implements, construction equipment, elevator
and escalator liability, and consumer product cases.
• Insurance litigation including coverage actions, first
party fraud, and badfaith actions.
• Personal injury, property damage and other economic losses,
including wrongful death actions, survivor claims, catastrophic
injury claims, nursing home liability, church liability, and false
imprisonment.
• Contract claims, including disputes between contractors,
manufacturer/retailer breach, lease disputes, commercial sales contract
interpretation and enforcement, and employment contract claims.
• Commercial fraud, including common law fraud, arson, Racketeer
Influenced and Corrupt Organization (RICO) claims, Lanham Act violations,
and violations of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA).
• Explosions and fire related losses, including oilfield
and industrial catastrophes.
• Employment practices litigation including age, sex, race,
and disability discrimination, wrongful termination, non-competition
litigation and retaliatory discharge.
• Construction litigation including both personal injury
and property damage claims, construction defects and OSHA violations.
• Trucking litigation including disputes involving property
loss and the consequential resulting damages as well as personal
injury and catastrophic claims resulting from vehicular collisions.
We have also litigated catastrophes emanating from spills of hazardous
materials and resulting personal injury and property damage
• Retailer liability, including Deceptive Trade Practices
Act litigation, other consumer protection litigation, lemon laws,
dealership liability, dramshop liability, Truth in Lending Act litigation,
dealership disclosure liability, and innocent retailer indemnification.
• Defamation including slander, libel and product disparagement.
• Professional liability including medical, dental, and legal
malpractice as well as claims of negligence against directors and
officers (D&O), and errors and omissions claims against professionals
such as architects and engineers (E&O).
• Premises liability, including premises condition issues,
security issues, retailer liability, and contractor liability.
• Toxic tort and environmental exposure cases, including
asbestosis, silicosis and other toxic tort claims.
• Homeowners' Association liability, including deed restriction
cases and claims against board members.
"Effective litigation skills depend on real
life experiences. At MHN, we stay involved in the communities where
both we and our jurors live and work.. From Little League to school
programs to community service through our churches and friends,
we develop relationships that allow us to bring our every day experiences
to the table-- creatively, aggressively, and most important, effectively.
Our audience is not made up of attorneys and judges alone but of
each and every one of you." |
