Pappy served as a United States Naval Officer as a naval aviator. He flew from aircraft carriers, (he held nuclear delivery pilot ratings) As second tour Aviator he was an R and D test pilot. He flew 31 years for a major Airline.

In addition to practicing law, Pappy is a frequent expert consultant, having assisted in many aviation disaster investigations and lawsuits. Pappy has evaluated , investigated or participated in the litigation of over 400 aviation accidents and incidents.
